If your instructor has enabled group-based discussion, you can join groups by navigating to the Resources tab and clicking on the Groups section:
Once there, you will see a list of groups that you can join. Add yourself to a group by clicking the adjacent Join button:
You will then see the text 'you are in this group' next to the groups you are a part of:
