Help your students catch up if they haven't been keeping up-to-date on Piazza posts in your class, by flagging posts as part of their Reading List. You can set an additional flag that requires a student to have read the post before they can create a new one.




The Reading List feature is enabled by default in all Piazza classes.To enable or disable the Reading List feature in your class, go to the Manage Class tab and then click Customize Q&A. Next to Reading List click enable or disable and then click Save Changes:



Instructors can add new posts to the Reading List or existing posts. 


1. To add a new post to the Reading List, first click New Post:



2. Next to Posting Options, select Add this post to students' reading lists:



3. Next, additional options will appear. You can select that you will remove the post from the Reading List manually, or you can schedule a time to automatically remove the post from the Reading List:



4. If you would like to require students to read this post before creating new posts, select the final checkbox:



5. Then click Post:




To add an existing post to the Reading List, first click edit:



Then next to Reading List select Add this post to students' reading lists:



Next to Remove from reading list, you can select that you will remove the post from the Reading List manually, or you can schedule a time to automatically remove the post from the Reading List:



If you would like to require students to read this post before creating new posts, select the final checkbox, then click Submit.




Students and instructors will see a green label on the post in their feed indicating that it is included in the Reading List:



Instructors can see which items are included in the Reading List by clicking the Reading list folder located in the top bar:



If you would like to remove a post from the Reading List manually or before the scheduled expiration, simply click edit and then uncheck the Reading List option. Click submit to save your changes:



When there are required unread posts in their Reading List, students will see the following message after clicking New Post:
