1. Click on the Manage Class button:

2. Under the Class Information header, set the class to inactive:

There are two optional selections when making your course inactive:

'When inactive, block access to all content' - students will be unable to view posts 

'When inactive, allow private posts to instructors' - students will be able to post privately to instructors
